Assad: US should cooperate with Syrian government

President Assad has said that the only way US can tackle terrorism in Syria is through cooperation with Syria.

The Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad has called on the US government to cooperate with the Syrian government if it hopes to neutralize terrorism.

The United States presence in Syria has been widely criticized due to its arming of “opposition” rebels. Their presence in the Middle Eastern country has not been in coordination with Damascus and they have repeatedly called for the resignation of President Bashar.

Assad believes that the US can be able to defeat terrorism should they work in collaboration with the Syrian government.

“If you want to start genuinely as the United States, to do so, it must be through the Syrian government,” Assad said speaking to Yahoo News

You cannot defeat the terrorism without cooperation with the people and the government of any country.

In January, President Trump on a phone conversation with the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, suggested a creation of safe zones in Syria and Yemen. This should according to Trump help displaced refugees of the ongoing conflicts in the two countries.

On a separate occasion Trump declared that to stop the flow of Syrian migrants, he “will absolutely do safe zones in Syria”

However, according to Assad the idea on the safe zones establishment in Syria is “unrealistic”.

Security zones for the Syrians can only happen when you have stability and security, where you don’t have terrorists, where you don’t have the flow and support of those terrorists by neighbouring countries or by Western countries.”

Assad stressed that when the aforementioned is achieved, then a natural safe zone – “which is our country” can be established.

It is much more valuable, much more practical, and less costly to have stability , than to create a safe zone”

In dealing with the Syrian conflict, Assad has insisted that an understanding between Russia and the US is necessary. He is optimistic that the improved relations between the two nations under the new administration will be beneficial in the resolution of the ongoing Syrian crisis.

He has however warned that, the US President’s attempt at fighting terrorism will be obstructed by involvement of different companies pursuing their own interests and the US media.
