A Chinese automaker, Goldstone-BYD launched full electric feeder bus ‘eBuzz K6’ on World Environmental Day. The electric feeder bus can cover over 200 km in a single charge.
The source information stated that the electric urban bus is a 7-meter long, however, the bus will basically be used as a ‘feeder bus’ for last mile connectivity. The bus will be prepared in India and exported to countries such as Nepal.
Goldstone Infratech’s Executive Director Naga Satyam said in the statement, “Our focus has not only been to ‘Make in India’ but also ‘Made for India’ to meet the requirements of our diversity in the landscapes and terrains of the country.”
The top speed of the electric bus is limited to 80 kmph. The bus has regenerative braking and gets disc brakes to improve stopping power. The bus can be charged in about 4 hours from empty to full charge and uses an AC quick charger and eBuzz K6 also comes standard with ABS.
As of now, the levels of localization in the bus is at about 30 percent but by 2020. BYD eyes on making the electric batteries for their own vehicles.
The company said, “We have covered significant ground in meeting the requirements of several states in the country and being the supplier of choice for Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and many more.”
