The Burma military plane lost communication while flying from Myeik to Yangon


A Burma military plane has according to army reports, disappeared with 105 passengers and 11 crew members on board.

According to a statement by a Myanmar’s army chief, the aircraft went missing on Wednesday during a domestic flight.

“Communication was lost suddenly at about 1:35pm when it reached about 20 miles west of Dawei town,” read a statement posted on Facebook.

A search and rescue operation by ships and aircraft is reportedly underway since the plane was determined missing. According to reports the aircraft dropped off the radar while flying over the Andaman Sea in the area between the city of Myeik and Yagon.

Reports also say that the Chinese built Shaanxi Y-8 is believed to be carrying military personnel based around Myeik and their relatives.

A source told AFP that it likely “a technical fault” as “weather is fine there”
